Most Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, MacBook, iMac and even Apple Watch can be tracked using the built in Find My app. This can be really helpful if you ever lose a device as it lets you track your device down, lock them with a message asking the finder to call you and you can even wipe your device if you think there's no chance of getting it back.

Once a device is signed into your iCloud account, it's automatically visible through the Find My app so all you need to do is open that app on your iPhone, iPad, Mac or at iCloud.com and you'll see a list of your devices and where they are on a map.

Once you've located your device, you can play a sound, which is useful if your device is in the house but you just can't find it, get directions to the location of your device, mark it as lost which lets you put a message on the screen and stops anyone else using it or even erase the device.

A recent update to the Find My system means that your devices don't even need to be online in order to appear on the map! All up to date Apple devices send out Bluetooth pings to find other devices and these are used to update the map location of any lost devices so they can be tracked down. This is all encrypted, secure and totally anonymous.

This means that even if you accidentally leave your iPad somewhere where you've never connected to the WiFi, other Apple users nearby will be able to help you find your device without having to do anything.

Using the Find My app can make it easy to recover your lost devices and even help to find devices that are offline and would usually be impossible to track down.
