Most people now have more than just one PC at home or in the office, so it’s important to know how to access your emails when you’re away from your main PC.
Almost all the major email providers have a few ways for you to do this and we’ll take a look at those options here.
If you have a smartphone and/or a tablet, you should be able to set that up to send and receive from your email account when you’re out and about.
Depending on the type of account you have, there may be some limitations in what you can do. For example, if you have POP email, you won’t see all your sent and filed email on your mobile device. If you have an IMAP account, you should see your inbox, filed emails and sent emails and if you have an Exchange, Gmail or iCloud account, you will be able to see not only all your emails, but also your calendar events and address book.
Another option for accessing your emails when you’re not at your main PC is to use webmail. All good email services should be backed up by a webmail service, although these do vary quite a lot in quality and the services they offer. Generally speaking, you should have the same access to email as you would if you set up the email on your mobile device.
